About Us
Who are the Catholic Daughters of the Americas? The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is the largest and oldest national organization of Catholic women in the world dedicated to strengthen their spiritual life through Christ and His Church. The Catholic Daughters were founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus in Utica, New York and have been growing over since. The CDA Key West chapter, #634, began in 1921. We are having our 90th anniversary in Nov. 2011 Our organization is open to all Catholic women who wish to participate in social and charitable activities. It is an opportunity to "join hands" by sharing the work and ideas with fellow Catholic women. In today's very demanding and diverse society, Catholic women have a safe haven here at CDA where we are one in spirit, mind and heart, who support life and charity for all.Our local cda member's involvement in the parish ministries and communityare many: New Beginnings, Adoration Chapel, Extraordinary Minister, Visiting the sick and ill, RCIA, CCD, Hospitality, The Altar Guild, Soup Kitchen, Outreach Mission on Stock Island, Prayer group, and participating with Habitat for Humanity once a month are just a few. As you can see, we are probably the woman next to you the ministry you are active in right now.
